Dennis and Tammy Price began the horse trading business from their home in 1990. In May of 2005 they decided to branch out and began operating the Alva Stockyards. Dennis operates the Sale Barn while Tammy manages the office.

 The 3rd Sunday of each month is a Regular Horse Sale. This sale features tack sold by Kory Pierson. The tack begins each sale at 1:00 pm. Following the tack sale at 3:00 pm, horses are sold.

The public is invited to bring all breeds of horses to put up for auction. The horses are checked in and given hip numbers in the order in which they arrive. All horses brought to the Alva Stockyards must have a current negative coggins.  A DVM is on site to pull blood if necessary and a $25 fee will be charged.
